The Finger Players’ Presents
The Truth About Lying: Heresy and Common Sense for the Theatre
A bold show about lying
Synopsis
I love to be an actor
I love to be in the scene
But what if the scene doesn’t love me back?
What’s the problem?
Is it them? Or is it me?
What if I am not cut out for it?
Do I stay? Do I go?
Or is it all wishful thinking on my part right from the start?
Co-devised by the cast, Tan Liting presents a confessional theatre piece featuring the voices of young acting professionals and theatre veterans sharing why they love what they do, even when the odds are against them.
The work, based on interviews with emergents such as Chanel Chan, Shafiqhah Efandi, M. Haja, Andrew Sutherland, Frances Lee, Lian Sutton, as well as veterans such as Lim Kay Siu, Neo Swee Lin, Janice Koh, Nora Samosir, Kuo Jian Hong, T Sasitharan, and Lim Yu Beng, sheds light on the dedication, insecurities and sacrifices of our theatre professionals.
